HUNTER SEAT EQUITATION
Open and Children’s Equitation Classes $25.00 each

Classes 3-8 MHC “A”, NEHC, SEHA Rated

1. MODIFIED JUNIOR EQUITATION FLAT. Open to junior riders who have not won 6 blue ribbons in any open equitation class.

2. MODIFIED JUNIOR EQUITATION FENCES. Fences not to exceed 2’6”.

3. OPEN EQUITATION FLAT, 11 AND UNDER. Walk, trot and canter.

4. OPEN EQUITATION FENCES, 11 AND UNDER. Fence not to exceed 2’6”.

5. OPEN EQUITATION FLAT, 12-14. Walk, trot and canter.

6. OPEN EQUITATION FENCES, 12-14. Fences not to exceed 3’0”.

7. OPEN EQUITATION FLAT 15-17. Walk, trot, canter.

8. OPEN EQUITATION FENCES 15-17. Fences not to exceed 3’6”.

9. MHJ MINI MEDAL. Open to all junior riders who have not reached their 15th birthday as of December 1st of the current year (exception Maiden and Novice riders who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1st of the current year). To perform over at least 6 fences not to exceed 2’6”.At least 4 riders must complete the course in order for points to count. Ten points required to qualify. (10 ,8, 6 ,4, 2, 1)..Once qualified, riders may continue to show in class. Riders may cross-enter into the Children’s Equitation Medal but can only compete in either the Mini Medal or Children’s Equitation Medal but not both.

10. SEHA MINI MEDAL. Open to SEHA Members who have not reached their 15th birthday as of December 1st of the current year and have not competed in any horsemanship class in which the rider is required to jump higher than 3’ with the exception of the USE Federation Pony Medal. All contestants are to compete over a course not to exceed 8 fences and not less than 6 fences, at a height not to exceed 2’6”.No combinations. .One or more individual tests may be requested at the judge’s discretion (USEF tests 1-5).Contestants are not allowed to cross enter into the National Children’s Medal, WIHS ,MHC, NEHC and RIHA Medal, USEF Medal, USET or the ASPCA Horsemanship class at any show during the year. To fill a class, at least 4 competitors must complete the course. Ten points to qualify for the Finals. (10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½ ). Once qualified you may still enter the class. If you have won the Mini Medal Finals, you are no longer eligible for this class.

11. MHC MINI MEDAL. Open to members of MHC who have not reached their 15th birthday as of December 1st of the current year and have not competed in classes in which the entry is required to jump higher than 3’. All contestants are to compete over a course not exceeding 8 fences and not less than 6 fences, excluding combination fences, at a height not to exceed 2’6”. One or more individual tests may be requested at the Judge’s discretion. (USEF Tests 1-5). To fill a class, a least 4 competitors must complete the course. Ten points to qualify for the Finals. Once qualified, riders may not show in this class. (10, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1).

12. MHC MINI MEDAL

13. M & S CHILDREN’S MEDAL. Entry Fee: $40.00 Horse (3’), Pony (Management Determines). Open to junior riders who are not competing at the same show in any hunter or equitation class with fences exceeding 3’3”.To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences the required height including a combination and at least 2 changes of direction after the first fence. Two or more tests of the top 4 competitors are required. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only 1 rider per horse. To fill the class, 3 riders must complete the course. The rider must be a member for points to qualify for the Finals. If entries warrant and League approves, class may be divided by horses and ponies. (Fence height at Finals: Horses 3’, Ponies 2’ Small/Medium, 2’6” Large. (10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½ ).

14. CENTRAL EQUINE JUNIOR MEDAL (3’6”). Entry Fee: $40.00 To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences at 3’6” including a combination and at least 2 changes of direction after the first fence. Two or more tests of the top 4 competitors are required. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only 1 rider per horse. To fill the class, 3 riders must complete the course. The rider must be a member in order for points to count toward qualifying for the Finals. (10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½ ).

15. MHJ JUNIOR MEDAL. Open to junior members who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1st of the current year. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not to exceed 3’3” in height. One or more tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the judge’s discretion. (USEF Tests 1-19).To fill ,at least 4 competitors must complete the course. Ten points required to qualify for the finals.(10,8,6,4,2,1).

16. SEHA JUNIOR MEDAL. Open to junior members who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1st of the current year. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not to exceed 3’3” in height. One or more tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the judge’s discretion.(USEF Tests 1-19).To fill, at least 4 competitors must complete the course. Ten points required to qualify for the finals.(10,6,4,2,1,1/2). Once qualified, you may still enter the class. If you won the Junior Medal at the Finals, you are no longer eligible for this class.

17. MHC JUNIOR MEDAL. Open to junior members of MHC who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1st of the current year. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not exceeding 3’. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the Judge’s discretion. (USEF Tests 1-18). To fill a class, at least 4 competitors must complete the course. Ten points required to qualify for the Finals. Once qualified, riders may not show in this class.

18. MHC JUNIOR MEDAL

19. NEHC HUNT SEAT MEDAL. Open to junior members of NEHC who have not reached their 18th birthday. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not exceeding 3’3”. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the Judge’s discretion. (USEF Tests 1-18). To fill a class, at least 4 must complete the course. One win required to qualify for the finals. Once qualified, rider is no longer eligible for the preliminary class. Violation will forfeit eligibility for the finals for that year.

20. NEHJA JUNIOR CLASSIC. Open to junior riders who have competed in at least 1 class in Hunter Seat Equitation Division (Maiden, Novice, Limit, Open). Each rider will jump 1 round over a course of approximately 9 fences not exceeding 3’.Only 1 rider per horse. Judge may require an additional test of no more than 6 top contestants. To qualify for final, 1 win or 2 seconds.

21. THIS NATIONAL CHILDREN’S MEDAL. Entry Fee: $40.00 To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences 2’9 to 3’ in height, spread not to exceed fence height. The course may be either a hunter or jumper type course and must include at least 2 changes of direction and a combination. Water obstacles (i.e.: water jump Liverpool) are not permitted. The top 4 riders or 20% of the first round competitors, whichever is greater, are required to perform at least 2 individual tests. (USEF Tests 1-19). An Open Numerical Scoring System must be used in the first round, with each rider’s score announced at the completion of their round. At least 6 ribbons shall be awarded in each qualifying class.

22. PESSOA/USEF HUNTER SEAT MEDAL. Entry Fee: $45.00 Presented by Becker College. Open to junior members of USA Equestrian who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1st of the current year.. To be shown over a course of not less than 8 obstacles at 3’6” which must include 1 combination including an oxer and 2 changes of direction (change of lead) after the first obstacle. To fill a class, 6 competitors must complete the course. To qualify for the final ride off.50 points in NY, NJ, CT .38 points in MA, RI.

23. ASPCA MACLAY MEDAL. Entry Fee: $45.00 Open to junior members of ASPCA who have not reached their 18th birthday as of December 1st of the current year. Must show their ASPCA number on the entry blank. To be shown over at least 8 fences not exceeding 3’6”. The under saddle performance of those riders selected to show under saddle shall count 50%. To fill a class 6 competitors must complete the course.

24. WIHS EQUITATION CLASS. Entry Fee: $40.00 Open to all junior members of USEF .To be shown over an equitation course of at least 8 jumps at 3’6”. One rider per horse, the same horse must be used in both phases. At least 3 competitors must complete the course.

25. USEF SHOW JUMPING TALENT SEARCH. Entry Fee: $45.00 Competitors must use the same horse in both phases. Competitors may ride stallions. All riders must ride in the first phase. At least 20 riders or 50% of the class, whichever is greater, must be called back for second phase.
Jumping Phase: Class shall be over a course of at least 10 fences from 3’6” to 3’9” in height, with spreads to 5’. Time allowed will be figured at 360 yards per minute. To be judged on style and execution. Time and jumping faults should be taken into consideration in judge’s evaluation of the rider.
Flat Phase: Not more than 30 riders at one time will show in a group of the working walk, the working trot sitting, the working trot standing as well as showing a lengthening of stride, the working canter and the working canter showing a lengthening of stride. All riders being considered for an award shall be required to show the working canter on the counter lead for at least one full revolution of the arena I both directions, but not more than 12 to counter canter at one time. Judges may require any additional tests. To be judged on a rider’s position and seat and the correctness and effect. To qualify for the finals riders must score 30 points.

AMATEUR ADULT EQUITATION
Classes 26-27 MHC “A”, NEHC, SEHA Rated

26. AMATEUR ADULT EQUITATION FLAT. Open to riders 18 years and over.
Walk, Trot, Canter.
27. AMATEUR ADULT EQUITATION FENCES. Eight fences not to exceed 3’0”.
28. ARIAT NATIONAL ADULT MEDAL. Entry Fee: $40.00
To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences not to exceed 3” in height, spread not to exceed fence height. The course may be either a Jumper or Hunter type course and must include at least 2 changes of direction and a combination. Water obstacle (i.e.: water jump, Liverpool) are not permitted. The top 4 riders, or 20% of the first round competitors, whichever is greater, are required to perform at least 2 individual tests. (USEF Tests 1–19) . Once qualified, riders may not enter this class.

30. MHC ADULT MEDAL

31. NEHC ADULT AMATEUR HUNT SEAT MEDAL. Open to adult amateur members of NEHC. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not to exceed 3’0”. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the discretion of the Judge. (USEF Tests 1-17). To fill a class at least 3 contestants must complete the course. Once a contestant has qualified they are no longer eligible for the preliminary classes. Violation will forfeit eligibility for the finals for that year. Ten points to qualify for finals (10,6,4,2,1,1/2).

32. MHJ ADULT MEDAL. Open to all Amateur Adult competitors to perform over at least 8 fences 2’9” to 3’0”, spreads not to exceed fence height, with at least 2 changes of direction and a combination. At the finals, class will be divided 18-30 and 31 and over. At least 4 riders must complete the course in order for points to count. To qualify: 10 points. Once qualified, riders may continue to show in the class. (10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1).

33. MHJ ADULT MINI MEDAL. Open to Amateur Adults who have not shown over a course where the fences exceed 3’ in the current year. To perform over at least 6 fences not to exceed 2’3”. At least 3 riders must compete in the class in order for points to count. To qualify: 5 points. Once qualified, riders may continue to show in the class.

34. SEHA ADULT MEDAL. Open to Amateur Adult riders. All contestants are required to perform over at least 8 fences not to exceed 3’0”. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the judge’s discretion. (USEF tests 1-19). To fill, at least 3 competitors must complete the course. Ten points to qualify. (10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½). Once qualified you may still enter the class. If you won the Adult Medal at the Finals, you are no longer eligible for this class.

35. BAY STATE ADULT MEDAL. Open to Adult Amateur riders. All entries are required to perform over at least 8 fences at 2’6”. One or more individual tests of the top 4 contestants may be requested at the judge’s discretion (USEF Tests 1-19). To fill a class, at least 4 riders must compete. One win or two seconds qualifies for the Finals. Qualifier may ride in either NEHC Medal Finals or Bay State Medal Finals but not both.

36. NEHJA ADULT CLASSIC. Open to Amateur Adult riders to perform over at least 8 fences 2’9” to 3’0”, spreads not to exceed fence height, with at least 2 changes of direction and a combination. At the Finals, class will be divided 18-30 and 31 and over. At least 4 riders must complete the course in order for points to count. To qualify, 10 points. Once qualified, riders may continue to show in the class. (10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1).

37. M & S ADULT MEDAL (3’). Open to Adult and Amateur Riders. To be shown over minimum of 8 fences at 3’ including a combination and at least 2 changes of direction after the first fence.

Two or more tests of the top 4 competitors are required. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only 1 rider per horse. To fill the class, 3 riders must complete the course. The rider must be a member in order for points to count toward qualifying for the Finals.

CHILDREN’S EQUITATION DIVISION
USEF Unrated, NEHC, MHC”A”, SEHA Rated 25.00 per class Exhibitors must be eligible for Children’s Hunter. Riders may not enter into any other class at the same show where fences exceed 3”0”. Fences for horses and large ponies:
2’6”; small/medium ponies: 2’0”.

SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION SECTION. Open to riders 12 years and under Riders may not compete in any other equitation class at any show and shall not have competed in a class jumping over 18” in height. Fences may be taken at a trot or canter at the option of the rider.

SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION SECTION
41. SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION FLAT. Walk, trot & canter. May be asked to halt and back. No more than 8 to canter at one time.

42. SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION FENCES. To be shown at a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 fences not exceeding 18” in height. No combinations.

43. SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIP. Fences not to exceed 18”. No combinations. Must have shown in class #27 to be eligible.

44. SEHA/MHJ Short Stirrup Medal. Entry Fee $30.00

Finals September 21st

SHORT STIRRUP HUNTER SECTION.
USEF Unrated, NEHC,MHC”AA”, SEHA Rated Division Fee: $55.00 or $30.00/class. Open to riders 12 years and under. Riders are not to compete in any other class that requires jumping fences any higher than 18”. To be shown over 4 to 8 fences at a height of 18”.

The fences shall be cross rails or verticals with no combinations. To be judged on performance and soundness.
